Resources for advocacy

Dear Partners,

As you likely know, the political jockeying around COVID-19 relief funds from the recently passed American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) is currently underway. We’re already seeing state lawmakers float their ideas for spending the money on pet projects or positioning their resistance to investing in long term public health infrastructure. As always, we’re only interested in hearing one voice at the table: yours.

The funding coming into your state first and foremost must be responsive to the needs of people and communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As we wrote about in a recent blog, we feel like it is important to educate your base and communities about this money and amplify the importance of communities driving the conversation about how these funds are best invested.

To help in that effort, we have prepared new resources which outline these points that we hope can be helpful in your advocacy. Included are some suggested talking points that could guide your messaging, a sample oped and several sample letters to the editor for you to customize.

ARPA RESOURCES
We will be producing more materials in the coming weeks that we hope you will find helpful. As always, if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

In solidarity,

Eva Stahl
Director of Policy and Partnerships
