Alert: Helping Consumers Plan to Renew

Dear Partners,

With the start of the next open enrollment period just around the corner, we wanted to share some messaging materials for open enrollment and a resource on the upcoming plan renewal process.

As many of you already know, consumers have from November 15-December 15 of this year to renew or switch their coverage for January 1, 2015.

To ensure the continued success of last year – helping the uninsured rate fall to 13.4%– we will need to educate consumers about renewing their coverage and maintaining their financial assistance. As all of you gear up for November 15th, we want to share several resources to best prepare you and your partners for this next phase of open enrollment:

  • A factsheet on what advocates need to know about the renewal and redetermination processes.
  • Talking points for a consumer audience on renewing their coverage.
  • Social media content to help the newly-enrolled retain their coverage.

Also, stay tuned for materials on additional ways to spread the word about open enrollment, including an update to last year’s message research memo, editorial calendar, and storybanking toolkit.

We hope you will find our resources useful to help guide consumers through the next open enrollment period and assist them with retaining their affordable health coverage. Also, CMS just released a helpful two-pager for those directing consumers to Healthcare.gov.

If you have any questions about these resources, please contact Christine Barber at cbarber@communitycatalyst.org.

Thank you for your continued advocacy,
