The president must be held accountable for the attack he incited on our country.

(BOSTON, MA) – Tomorrow, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on an article of impeachment against President Trump in response to his role in inciting last Wednesday’s attack on our country and our democracy. The assault was a brazen attempt by the outgoing president to wield power and violence to thwart the will of the people in electing our new president and vice president, who are committed to advancing an agenda focused on promoting health and wellbeing for all people. It was a disgusting display of white supremacy and insurgent terror – fueled by President Trump and other elected officials that led to the deaths of four people, including a Capitol Police officer. The attack left members of Congress and government employees fearing for their lives and damaged our Capitol building. Community Catalyst stands with our allies in calling on Congress to hold President Trump accountable for his actions by immediately impeaching and removing him from office.

Statement of Emily Stewart, executive director of Community Catalyst, regarding tomorrow’s vote on an article of impeachment in the U.S. House of Representatives:

“We commend House leadership for moving forward with impeachment, and we call on all representatives to vote to impeach the president and for the United States Senate to convict Donald Trump for his crimes against our nation. The January 6th attack on our country was incited by the president, and he must be held accountable to ensure that no elected official, ever again, can summon an attack on our democracy.

“A strong democracy is essential to Community Catalyst’s mission of fighting for a country where all people and communities have power over the decisions that affect our health, including and especially decisions made by policymakers. In order for the people to exercise our will, all elected officials must fulfill their duty to uphold and protect our constitution. When they undermine that duty, we must hold them accountable in order to protect our ability to fight for a country where all people can be healthy and free.”
