(BOSTON, MA) — Community Catalyst today announced the appointment of Robert Phillips as its board chair. Phillips is the president and CEO of Alluma, a nonprofit social enterprise working to reimagine the way technology is used to advance equity. He succeeds Wendy Warring, president and CEO of the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation.

“I am excited to take the helm as Community Catalyst’s board chair as we work to grow our impact and push for a health system rooted in race equity and health justice,” Phillips said. “I want to thank Wendy Warring for her partnership and leadership on the board and for all she has done for Community Catalyst’s mission.”

Phillips has nearly 25 years of experience working in the health, nonprofit, community technology, and philanthropic sectors. Prior to joining Alluma, he worked as a senior director at Kaiser Permanente. He spent a decade working in philanthropy at both the California Endowment and Sierra Health Foundation. Phillips has also been involved in a number of efforts to use technology solutions at the community level to provide community access to basic technology, accelerate access to public benefits, and increase voter registration.
