Michael Matson is a Program and Policy Coordinator at Community Catalyst. In this role, Michael provides direct assistance to the director of strategic policy, the deputy director, and members of the federal team. Michael also supports the Advancing Racial Justice and Equity Project.

Previously, Michael worked in direct services to help people from systemically-excluded communities navigate the health care system. Michael began his career in rural New York at a syringe exchange program, where he provided public health education and organized overdose prevention trainings for people who inject drugs. He went on to work in Boston at Fenway Health Center, helping LGBTQ+ patients engage in HIV-related care while addressing social determinants of health. This professional experience built upon his undergraduate studies, internships at community-based-organizations, and part-time work with non-profit organizations.

Michael received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York College at Oneonta, with a focus in cultural psychology and human sexuality.
