Alexis Major

State Advocacy Manager, Substance Use Disorders

Alexis Major serves as a State Advocacy Manager for the Substance Use Disorders and Justice-Involved Populations program, supporting Community Catalyst’s state and local partners by providing technical assistance that addresses drug and alcohol addiction, using proactive and defensive strategies that promote diversion from arrest, integration of health and social services, and expansion of insurance coverage and access. Alexis assists partners with coalition building and maintenance, grassroots organizing, and the design and implementation of successful health advocacy campaigns.

Alexis returns to Community Catalyst after working at Health Care For All (HCFA) as the Oral Health Organizer, where she operated a dynamic, multi-faceted statewide oral health coalition. Alexis identified and recruited stakeholders to be part of the alliance, educated consumers and community groups and oversaw outreach work for HCFA’s oral health policy initiative. During her tenure, Alexis on-boarded over 50 organizations, many being grassroots groups.

Before working at HCFA, she worked at Community Catalyst for 5 and a half years, as Project Associate for the Roadmaps to Health project which focused on addressing the social and economic factors that affect community health and later as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.

Alexis and her husband manage a Boston-based non-profit that supports at-risk youth within the justice system. Alexis sits on the Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition and is a Health Committee member of the Boston Chapter, NAACP.

Alexis is committed to advancing racial, economic and health equity by ensuring that our most vulnerable communities thrive in healthy communities and are at the forefront for driving policy and systems-level change.
