Health Equity Coordinator
Join an organization at the forefront of health care advocacy around the nation
Community Catalyst is a national not-for-profit consumer advocacy organization working to build a health justice movement. Based in Boston MA, the organization develops new approaches to strengthen the voices of consumers and communities, organize vulnerable constituencies, and build the kinds of organizations and coalitions that can advocate effectively for health care reforms. Community Catalyst staff members work with consumer and community groups in more than 30 states that are advocating for – and winning – health policy and system reforms which benefit consumers.
POSITION SUMMARY
Health advocacy has inadequately addressed persistent health inequities and systemic racism in the health care system. This is due, in part, to having no structured effort to collaborate with community-based organizations led by Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC), or include BIPOC in decision making processes. Addressing this oversight, and moving toward a health system that meets the needs of everyone, requires recognition that health advocacy is ineffective if problem solving is not rooted directly in communities. The Health Equity Coordinator will provide support and help to advance project goals for two Community Catalyst projects that aim to address this need, the Advancing Racial Justice Planning project and Community Solutions for Health Equity (CSHE).
SUPERVISION
The Health Equity Coordinator is supervised by the Director, Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Both projects will require:
- Serve as a liaison between the Community Solutions for Health Equity (CSHE) and Health Equity projects
- Represent projects on Community Catalyst issue teams and facilitate information sharing amongst other organization initiatives
