ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Community Catalyst (CC) and Health Care For All's (HCFA) missions are to organize and sustain a powerful consumer voice to ensure that all individuals and communities can influence the local, state and national decisions that affect their health. As two social justice organizations, we are committed to advancing a health equity agenda and focusing on diversity and inclusion in the workplace, including substantive work and trainings on anti-racism, gender identity and expression, and implicit and structural/systemic bias, offered in part under the leadership of CC’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion.   We are proud to have been the recipients of several awards including the Mass Equality’s Community Icon Award to CC for its national efforts to secure access to quality, affordable care for LGBTQ people.  Additionally, members of the staff have been recognized individually for their contributions as leaders in the fight for health justice.  Our individual Boards of Directors each hold their respective organization accountable to a standard of continuous learning and improvement on matters of diversity, equity and inclusion and many are themselves active in the health justice movement.

We seek to hire a Director of Human Resources who will foster this inclusive and diverse culture and help ensure we have the capacity to achieve our goals and reach our long-term vision.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a leader of positive change, the Director of Human Resources works closely with leadership and staff to create and implement efficient and effective human resources practices that support and advance the work of CC and HCFA.  In partnership with the leadership of these two distinct  and separate organizations , the Director creates, implements, and manages human resources strategy, providing leadership at a local and national level in recruitment, employment, diversity and inclusion, compensation, benefits, retention, recognition, employee relations, data management, payroll integration, training, organizational and professional development, ensuring compliance with state and federal legal and fiscal requirements, best practices, and organizational policy. 

SUPERVISION & SUPPORT

The Human Resources Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director and is supported by a full-time Human Resources Specialist.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and at least 15 years progressively sophisticated experience in all aspects of human resources management, including a minimum of 5 years at the senior management or executive level, preferably within a health care advocacy or similar nonprofit organization.   Demonstrated commitment to excellence, inclusion and diversity in the workplace.  Proven ability to create, implement, administer, and evaluate best practices in human resources programs and services with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.   Proven ability to build relationships across a range of constituencies including at the Board and senior management level.   Proven capacity, creativity and excellence in conflict resolution and negotiating skills, organizational and project management capability, and analytical and problem-solving skills.   Proven experience cultivating, enhancing, and sustaining an inclusive, diverse and multicultural workplace.   Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, leadership and administrative skills with a demonstrated attention to detail.   SHRM certification, advanced degree or equivalent professional/lived experience welcomed.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and successful leadership of all aspects of human resources management. Strong candidates will have had a direct, positive impact on fostering an organization-wide inclusive, multicultural culture. Candidates should be those who delight and are effective in working with diverse constituents in a multifaceted partnership of organizations.
