- December 08, 2010 Kansas Convening 2010 The Kansas Health Consumer Coalition and Community Catalyst held a two day statewide health reform implementation convening, supported by the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund, from December 8 - 10 2010. The convening, attended by over 50 advocates and stakeholders from across the Sunflower State, focused on what the Affordable Care Act means for Kansas and the important role of consumers in implementing the law. The group discussed many important issues and what those issues mean for Kansans but focused their planning in the areas of health insurance Exchanges and Medicaid.
- September 22, 2010 New Hampshire Convening 2010 AARP, Community Catalyst, the Endowment for Health, the New Hampshire Citizens Health Initiative, and New Hampshire Voices for Health sponsored a two-day convening on implementing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in New Hampshire entitled, Implementing National Health Reform for New Hampshire, on September 22 and 23, 2010. The meeting brought together advocates, public officials, providers and other key health care stakeholders to learn more about the ACA, its major implications for New Hampshire, and to identity key priorities moving forward for the state health advocacy community. During the two days, there was a particular focus on implications of the ACA for New Hampshire regarding both the Exchange and Medicaid expansion as well as significant discussion about delivery system reform and communications around the ACA.
- September 15, 2010 Illinois Convening 2010 The Illinois Health Care Justice Campaign, led by the Campaign for Better Health Care, hosted a two-day state-wide health care reform implementation Summit, “Making Health Care Reform Work For Illinois” on September 15-16 in Chicago. The meeting brought together more than 75 advocates, health care stakeholders and public officials to learn more about the Affordable Care Act implementation, what it means for Illinois, and to identify the work ahead. The group delved deeply into many of the key provisions of the ACA, but focused planning in the areas of delivery system reform and private insurance regulation.
- June 18, 2010 Missouri Convening 2010 The Missouri Health Advocacy Alliance, with support from the Missouri Foundation for Health, hosted its annual two-day health advocacy convening in Columbia June 17-18. Community Catalyst assisted in planning, facilitating and presenting at the convening which focused primarily on health reform implementation. The Herndon Alliance and Families USA also attended and presented. Missouri health advocates have formed a series of implementation work groups and much of the second day was devoted to planning their campaigns and activities.
- June 06, 2010 New Jersey Convening 2010 New Jersey Consumer Voices for Coverage held a two-day national health reform implementation convening on June 8-9 in New Brunswick. On the first day, more than150 advocates and other stakeholders participated in a day of education that included an overview of key provisions of national health reform and then the group delved more deeply into delivery system reform and health equity issues. On the second day, a broad cross-section of the advocacy community came together for a day of campaign planning. They developed initial plans for campaigns to form pilot Accountable Care Organizations in New Jersey and to begin thinking about how a Community Transformation Grant could promote health equity in the state.
- June 03, 2010 Ohio Convening 2010 Ohio Consumers for Health Coverage held a two day convening, “What Does Health Care Reform Mean for Ohio” held June 2-3with over 70 participants from various organizations from across the state. The event was co-sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Gund Foundation, St. Luke’s Foundation and the Cleveland Foundation. The meeting brought together officials and advocates to learn more about health care reform implementation, what it means for Ohio and to identify the work ahead.
- May 19, 2010 Kentucky Convening 2010 Community Catalyst presented at “What Does Health Care Reform Mean for Kentucky?” held May 18-19 in Frankfort. The event was cosponsored by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky and Kentucky Voices for Health. It brought together a large group of advocates, providers, and other stakeholders interested in learning the details, challenges, and opportunities national health care reform presents for Kentucky. The meeting also gathered advocates to plan their implementation activities for the future.
- May 06, 2010 California Convenings 2010 Community Catalyst cosponsored and participated in four regional convenings hosted by California Pan Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN) as part of their 2010 spring series: "Ensuring Equity: Achieving Our Vision for Health Reform." Community Catalyst presented on national health care provisions in the Affordable Care Act and on key messages and strategies to build public support for health care reform in California. The regional meetings took place in Los Angeles, April 26; Oakland, April 28; San Diego, May 5; and Fresno, May 6.
- April 26, 2010 Pennsylvania Convening 2010 The Pennsylvania Health Access Network held a conference on health care reform, “Where Do We Go From Here?” in April bringing advocates, policymakers and activists together to learn more about health reform implementation in Pennsylvania and how it will benefit working families. Community Catalyst spoke on panels about the issues of affordability, Medicaid and the important role of consumer health advocates in implementation. More than 180 people participated in the event.
- April 20, 2010 Minnesota Health Reform Briefing 2010 Community Catalyst staff joined Take Action Minnesota in conducting a briefing on the Affordable Care Act in April of 2010. The meeting consisted of health care advocates – including labor, legal services, consumer groups, providers and faith based organizations. Community Catalyst presented on provisions from the Affordable Care Act as well as messages and strategies to help build support for reform in the state.
