CHIP Letters Alert
Dear Partners:
During this exciting time, we bring you our first of many national health reform alerts. As you all know, President Obama signed the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 on Wednesday afternoon. This is a great victory for health and children’s advocates who have fought a long battle to continue and expand this important program. Congratulations!
In the President’s own words, “…this bill is only a first step. The way I see it, providing coverage to 11 million children through CHIP is a down payment on my commitment to cover every single American.”
This moment presents an opportunity for advocates across the country to thank Congress and the Obama administration for their commitment to health care and to ask them to continue that commitment in the form of broader health reform efforts. A letter to the editor printed in local papers will get this message to your Members in Washington, while also keeping up the dialogue on health care at home.
As always, we would love to hear of your successes in getting these letters printed in your state. Please keep us updated by emailing Jennifer Collier at jcollier@communitycatalyst.org to let us know if you have submitted a letter and if it has been printed.
Thank you for your continued advocacy.
Sincerely,
Community Catalyst National Health Reform Team
