Making the Affordable Care Act a Reality
When President Obama signed the national health reform law on March 23, 2010, it marked an historic achievement in American history on par with the passage of Social Security and Medicare. The law establishes a framework to provide health security for all, and takes immediate steps in that direction and gives health care advocates a strong foundation on which to build. And it is already working. These videos show how the law is helping individuals and families across the country.
This victory could not have happened without the commitment of the President and legislative leaders, the tireless dedication of Hill staff, and the amazing work of advocates for the health and economic security of all Americans.
State consumer advocates will play a critical role in ensuring the success of national health care reform. Community Catalyst will support advocates’ efforts to ensure the law is implemented effectively, and that consumer interests continue to be represented when new programs are established and new rules and guidelines are set. Advocates will be on the frontlines through outreach, enrollment and education, and also defending against attacks on reform.
