Campaign for Better Care

Community Catalyst is currently working to mobilize a broad array of state-based advocacy organizations and networks in support of the Campaign for Better Care. Working with the National Partnership for Women and Families, the National Health Law Program and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, Community Catalyst helps the Campaign:

  • Build a strong and lasting consumer voice for better health care.
  • Make improvements in the health care system so that it delivers high quality, comprehensive, and coordinated care - especially for vulnerable older adults and people with chronic conditions.

Its work is concentrated in Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Community Catalyst is helping consumer groups in these states as they work toward public policies that support high quality, comprehensive, coordinated care for vulnerable older adults and their families. Each campaign is made up of state and local groups and individuals representing people with multiple chronic conditions, including organizations and networks that actively work in low-income communities and communities of color. These campaigns are bringing a powerful consumer voice to health care debates at the local, state and national levels.

Community Catalyst is also training older adults and caregivers to become health care advocates. Its dynamic and innovative training program, Lift Up Your Voice!, educates participants about the basic workings of the health care system; teaches them about the invaluable role individuals play in shaping health policy; trains them on advocacy strategies; and introduces them to opportunities to hone their new-found skills.
