Health Experts Host Teleconference on High-Risk Pools, A Staple of Republican Affordable Care Act Repeal Proposals
Fourth in a Seven-Part Series of Media Briefings to Detail Impacts of Republican ACA Repeal Proposals in Layman’s Terms
Boston, MA and Washington, D.C. – In light of Republican efforts to push their repeal of the Affordable Care Act through Congress, Community Catalyst will host a teleconference from 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM (EST), Tuesday, March 14, 2017, featuring health care experts who will discuss Republican proposals to rely on high-risk pools to cover individuals with pre-existing conditions. Participating in the call will be: Michael Miller, strategic policy director, and Ashley Blackburn, senior policy analyst, Community Catalyst; Cheryl Parcham, director of Access Initiatives, Families USA; Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, executive director, NETWORK Lobby; and National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (participant being confirmed).

This fourth in a seven-part series of teleconference will last 45 minutes, beginning with a 25-minute presentation, followed by 20 minutes of Q&A.

The goal of these teleconferences is to explain in layman's terms the impact of repealing the ACA, and the various replacement proposals currently being discussed, to journalists who may be unfamiliar with these ideas and how they could affect their readership or audiences. These calls are being sponsored by the Protect Our Care Coalition. Different organizations within the coalition will be hosting and participating in these teleconferences. The final teleconference also marks the 7th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.
